Sample Letter 1

Dear Senator ____________:

I am sending you some biographies written by children with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. I've known some of these kids for about 3 years now and feel strongly that this low profile disease should be dealt with. I've had ______________for _____years, and it's very difficult to watch these children suffer so much more than I ever did, and I did my share.

Our medications will often just barely maintain symptoms, and these medications come with many side effects that are brutal on children. We need to make more of an effort in this area. Please help us. If we have to raise money to send one of these kids there to testify before a committee, we'll do it.

Thank you for your time and effort.

Respectfully,

Sample Letter 2

Dear Senator _________:

I would appreciate any help you can provide on how to proceed in getting help in advocating for Children with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This is Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease.

This is not a disease that's talked about much because of it's nature. The overall view is that it isn't curable but it is treatable. This is not true for the children you will read about here. Nor is it true for many adults.

It is necessary to make an effort to broaden awareness and increase funding for this debilitating disease. Any help with contacts or how to proceed will be deeply appreciated. These children wrote these with a lot of hope for their future.

Thank You,
